Transportation is a capability developed by GIBSIN, based on the strength of the core competence from other product lines. The focus is in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control design and related activities for mass rapid transportation (MRT) systems. Since the start of the first urban mass rapid transportation project in 1994, GIBSIN has 20 years of experience in the field. At present, Taipei and Kaohsiung are the two cities in Taiwan that have MRT systems in operation and/or under construction. GIBSIN is deeply involved in the program and serves the clients well in both locations.

The scope of services in urban mass rapid transportation includes:

• Facility planning, value engineering and economic feasibility studies
• Design of utilities for subway stations, namely, lighting, communication, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), fire detection, electrical systems, etc.
• Material list and cost estimate
• Construction support
