Taiwan's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) has opened up the local market to international companies.

Accordingly, GIBSIN adjusts its operation strategy to meet the challenge of the global environment. Procurement and Construction are a natural sequence after Engineering.  To minimize interfaces and simplify their involvement, many owners prefer all three activities to be handled by one party.  From their viewpoint, the consolidation of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) into one contract would reduce the uncertainty in completion cost at the onset of the project.  It also gives the contractor more flexibility in controlling the schedule during execution.  The scope and the number of the EPC packages will vary with the background and preference of the owners.

GIBSIN has the required resources for each stage of the execution process, namely, design, procurement, supply of equipment and construction.  The Company assembles a dedicated team staffed with experienced people from design, control, procurement, construction, QA disciplines.  The project manager works closely with the discipline engineers to ensure the work progresses as planned.  Problems are addressed immediately as most would have an impact on cost.

The Company targets those opportunities where its strength in engineering would enhance the performance in procurement and construction.  When the procurement of a major equipment is involved, GIBSIN teams with the manufacturer to take on the project.  The types of EPC projects targeted by GIBSIN are:

  • Public works such as substations and factory buildings in Science Parks. Also electric and mechanical systems for facilities and factories
  • Structures for medium and large petrochemical plants
  • Electrical and mechanical systems for privately owned power plants and electronic manufacturing facilities
  • Facilities improvement
